Let's Get This Party Started!
JOIN US! in Sacramento for the CA State Democratic Party Convention, April 28-30. PDA national staff and organizers will be there in force, supporting CA PDA chapter activists in our efforts to move the State Party to take a strong stand on ending the Occupation of Iraq and to organize within the Democratic Party for a unified progressive voice. This year, the State Party will be considering Rules and writing the Platform—PDA will be on the ground, working with the Progressive Caucus of the CDP to organize the progressive vote—and you can be a part of the Action! See Update at end of this post
Highlights of the activities being planned for the weekend include a PDA Hospitality Suite on Saturday night, April 29. This will be a dynamic gathering of PDA national and state leaders and activists, who will host an open house with progressive candidates such as Marcy Winograd, PDLA president and challenger to pro-war candidate Jane Harmon in the 36th Congresional District race and Sen. Debra Bowen, strong advocate for election integrity and candidate for Secretary of State, PDA Advisory Board member Tom Hayden, Congressional Progressive Caucus and PDA Advisory Board members such as Maxine Waters, Barbara Lee, Diane Waters and some fabulous music and light refreshments.
PDA Board Chair Mimi Kennedy will be on hand to emcee an exciting evening in which participants can learn about how PDA is mobilizing and organizing in CA and nationally for an end to the Occupation of Iraq, universal health care, election reform and IMPEACHMENT! All of this and more! Stay tuned!
The Progressive Caucus of the CA Democratic Party is planning a Forum on Impeachment for Convention attendees with panelists to include some of the best voices on this issue. Details are still being worked out, but you won’t want to miss it!
How can you go to the CA State Dem Party Convention?, you ask. It’s easy, but you need to move fast. If you are not a delegate to the Convention you can go as an observer by purchasing an observer’s pass ($100). Or you can sign up as a volunteer with the Democratic Party. There are limited volunteer positions and even more limited observer passes. And do consider that accommodations are filling up fast as well.
If you do decide to go and would like to help with PDA activities at the Convention, please Contact Us! We’d love to see you there!
