Thank You Sonoma County, for Standing UP!
... a note from the organizing committee, to volunteers for the Sonoma County Stand UP! We’d also like to thank ALL OF YOU who came out, wrote letters, signed petitions, registered to vote, volunteered to work in campaigns or to run for office. THANK YOU for putting the Participate back in participatory democracy.

The Sonoma County Stand UP! committee would like to extend our deepest thanks to all of you who spoke, sang, and volunteered at Saturday’s event. Despite the Press Democrat’s report, we estimate that about 500 people attended the event. While about 200 stayed for the entire rally, the democracy-in-action booths generated a tremendous amount of interest and close to 200 letters were written by citizens and hundreds of signatures were collected.
There was a steady flow of people who took the time out of their shopping excursions and Saturday strolls to stop by the Square and see how they could participate, if only for a few minutes. They asked questions, showed interest, and saw that impeachment IS on the table no matter what Congress or the media want us to believe.
We had coverage on the local TV station, KFTY, the Press Democrat, Truthout, several blogs, and many radio stations. We also have follow up interviews scheduled so the word is out that Sonoma County will not sit down – we will STAND UP and demand government accountability.
We hope all of you will join the Resolution to Impeach coalition at the Santa Rosa City Council meeting on the 6th of November. This is an important vote because the more cities and counties we have that sign resolutions, the stronger our voice becomes to our elected representatives.
Please take the time to send Lynn Woolsey a note of thanks for her support and let her know that impeachment is the way to end this war and ensure that future presidents do not assume broad and unchecked powers. Letting her know how we feel does have an impact.
Saturday was a huge success because all of you took the time to
participate in the democratic process. Si se puede!

NOTE: We have received word that the petition to the Santa Rosa City Council for a Resolution to Impeach Bush and Cheney, has been moved to the SR City Council Agenda for December 4th.
Please stay tuned for confirmation of date for petition to go before the City Council.
